Join Agrecalc at the Royal Highland Show 2024

The award-winning farm carbon calculator, Agrecalc, is showcasing its state-of-the-art version of the platform – Agrecalc Cloud – within the SRUC pavilion, on 7th Avenue, next to the Main Ring.

Join us for the two days – June 20th and June 21st – within the grounds of the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston, near Edinburgh. The pavilion is marked below on the map of the venue.

At the show, our team of experts will be available to guide you through the platform’s features, answer your questions, and provide valuable insights.

Scott Davies, Agrecalc’s CEO, said: “We are delighted to return to the Royal Highland Show year after year, as it provides an excellent space to engage directly with the farming community and showcase our commitment to sustainable agriculture. This event allows us to connect with farmers, industry experts, and stakeholders, engage in invaluable discussions and collaborations that drive the agricultural sector forward. Our continued presence at the Royal Highland Show with SRUC and SAC Consulting underscores our dedication to supporting farmers in their journey towards sustainability and profitability.

“We are excited to present the features of our Agrecalc Cloud platform, a cutting-edge tool designed to help farmers own their carbon story through the efficient use of their resources. Agrecalc Cloud provides comprehensive carbon footprint analysis, enabling farmers to monitor and reduce their emissions. Our goal is to empower farmers with the tools they need to meet the challenges of modern agriculture while contributing to a sustainable future.”

At this year’s show, themed ‘Evolution’, Agrecalc will also present “Farm of the Future,” a vision of efficient and resilient farming in the face of climate change and the imperative of emissions reduction. This exhibit will highlight cutting-edge practices and technologies that promote sustainability and resilience.

The focus will be on how the technological and practical innovations collectively reduce carbon footprints, enhance soil health, and ensure long-term productivity.

Agrecalc Cloud launch success

Last year, the Agrecalc stand within the Innovation Corner drew major attention, with close to 50 professionals attending the launch of Agrecalc Cloud on the first day. There were two more well-attended presentations on day two, where the Agrecalc team answered many queries from the attending members of the audience and the scientific community.

One of Agrecalc’s honoured guests at the stand was Douglas Ross, MSP for Highlands and Islands, and Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) alumnus. He enquired about the development of Agrecalc software first within the agricultural college, and subsequently as a standalone company, and observed the demonstration of Agrecalc Cloud by the company’s CEO, Scott Davies.

He was accompanied by Professor Wayne Powell, SRUC Principal & Chief Executive. Professor Powell is a keen supporter of Innovation Corner, the space for the new and nascent businesses and initiatives, envisaged by SRUC as a space for the technologies and developments which will usher the future of agriculture and the management of natural capital.

In collaboration with the High Growth Spinout Programme from the Scottish Enterprise, Agrecalc delivered the next generation software-as-a-service platform, which aims to support both the existing and the new customer base in the years to come.

Supported by world-class agricultural research

As a carbon calculation tool, Agrecalc has existed since 2007 and has, in its evolving iterations, supported more than 10,000 users (and counting), and has produced more than 20,000 carbon reports.

The platform’s own evolution involved taking constant feedback from our customer base; we welcome the continuous collaboration from clients, advisors and the contributions from the wide agricultural community.

It has become a vital tool for farmers, enabling the gain of valuable insights into farming practices and improvement of informed decisions to reduce the environmental impact. This has gained a recognition from the Scottish Government, making it the calculator to support crucial agricultural projects like Farm Advisory Service (FAS) and the Beef Efficiency Scheme.

Agrecalc is continuing to participate in, and draw from, the world-class research of SRUC, as well as from the practical expertise of SAC Consultants.

We also had some less distinguished, but no less entertaining guests in the SRUC tent
