Join Agrecalc at Low Carbon Agriculture Show 2025

The Agrecalc team is looking forward to welcoming you at our stand (2.844) at this year’s Low Carbon Agriculture Show, taking place on March 5 and 6, at NAEC Stoneleigh near Kenilworth.

At this year’s Low Carbon Agriculture Show, at NAEC Stoneleigh near Kenilworth, the Agrecalc team will be welcoming you to our stand to demonstrate the newest additions to our Platform-as-a service, Agrecalc Cloud.

The team will also deliver a presentation on “What is the GWP* metric, and what does it mean in the context of agriculture?” on Wednesday, March 6, at 12:45, during the session on GHG Removal and Carbon Farming.

Presentation on the controversial metric of GWP*

Aleksandra Stevanovic, Agrecalc Head of Marketing, is presenting at the event’s Food & Nature live conference, and participating as a member of a panel consisting of agriculture and policy subject matter experts.

She will be joining Eirinn Rusbridge, Senior Project Engineer, NFU Energy, and Philip Gorringe, from Lower Blakemere Farm. Ms Rusbridge’s presentation will explore the role of carbon reporting in agriculture, emphasising the ethos of reduction before ofsetting, and Mr Gorringe will share his experience in transitioning to regenerative farming to help reduce emissions.

Ms Stevanovic said: “During the session I plan to present the scientific stance on the controversial topic of GWP* metric. The goal is to introduce this topic into agricultural conversation and present both sides of the story – as Agrecalc Cloud is already doing by having included the toggle button which gives our users the opportunity to choose and compare the results from both methodologies.

“It is only through dialogue that we can understand what this means for farmers, and for the agri-food supply chain’s reporting on Scope 3 emissions. Agrecalc is always trying to do is put the tool into the farmers’ hands, so they can understand better the data they own.

“We report results at the whole farm, enterprise and product level. This approach is complemented by benchmarking emissions and pinpointing hotspots, facilitating the identification of areas for targeted mitigation actions. The best baseline is yourself, especially as you follow your results from year to year.”

She will be supported by Julian Bell, Agrecalc Principal Consultant and Agriculture Director.

"It is only through dialogue that we can understand what [GWP*] means for farmers, and for the agri-food supply chain's reporting on Scope 3 emissions. Agrecalc is always trying to do is put the tool into the farmers’ hands, so they can understand better the data they own."

A year of changes and progress

Following the success of the last year’s show, when more than two hundred people visited the stand for a chat and to see the demo of our cutting-edge platform-as-a-service, Agrecalc Cloud, Agrecalc has taken massive strides in the development of the tool, its team, and the usability of the platform.

After welcoming the DEFRA report on harmonisation, Agrecalc has joined the three major farm carbon calculators in an initiative to work together to support UK agriculture.  The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), intended to harmonise the methodologies used in calculating the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from agriculture.

Since the initial step, we held a joint webinar to explain what this move means, as well as established an Industry Fertiliser Steering Group to explore how new and novel fertilisers with lower carbon footprints should be incorporated into all carbon calculators. Further work is being done on calculator interoperability to enable data transfer between calculators.

In the time between the two LCA Shows, Agrecalc has embarked on a year of success. Aside from the harmonisation initiative, we can talk about the following highlights:

  • Agrecalc Cloud has been launched for a free trial. The free trial provides an excellent opportunity to get a carbon result and understand your baseline emissions, setting the foundation for future sustainability initiatives.
  • A full platform migration from the version 1 of Agrecalc to the new and enhanced Agrecalc Cloud platform has taken place. The cloud-based platform offers many improvements, such as new crops and livestock options, separate reports for multiple livestock herds, nitrification and urease inhibitors for fertiliser, methane inhibitors for cattle, enhanced inputs for pig and poultry batches, and many more.
  • In a new collaboration with the company Black Bull Biochar, Agrecalc has launched a biochar module within the platform. This collaboration marks the first time Agrecalc has highlighted a commercial business as a partner in developing a feature for the farm carbon calculator, enhancing the platform’s capabilities to support sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Agrecalc has also launched a new and improved Soil Carbon Module. Following extensive improvements and testing within Agrecalc Cloud, the Soil Carbon Module brings significant improvements for enhanced accuracy and usability.
  • In line with our commitment to further developing our company’s mission and vision, Agrecalc has aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. With proper calculations and renewable practices, we aim to foster the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimise their adverse impacts on human health and the environment.
  • The Agrecalc team has continued its education and has been certified carbon literate. Completing this training supports businesses to embed and enable sustainable behaviour changes with the same foundation of knowledge for everyone, effectively levelling the playing field towards the Just Transition to net zero.

“This is a fantastic show that addresses the agrifood sector’s growing appetite to invest in meaningful emissions mitigation. The show has a very good mix of exhibitors ranging from electric vehicles to renewables and data, as well as a comprehensive range of speakers in the three seminar streams."

A crucial guidance through agricultural transition

The show is organised by Agriconnect, the UK’s largest agricultural information business, powered by Farmers Guardian and supported by other Agriconnect brands.

With sustainability and net zero at the forefront of emerging legislation in the agricultural sector, the LCA Show 2025 is poised to guide farmers and landowners through the energy, environmental, and farming transition. Governments worldwide are aligning farming policies with environmental best practices, amplifying the need for information and solutions. LCAS provides crucial guidance to businesses navigating the evolving landscape of sustainable farming practices and planning.

Scott Davies, Agrecalc CEO, said: “This is a fantastic show that addresses the agrifood sector’s growing appetite to invest in meaningful emissions mitigation. The show has a very good mix of exhibitors ranging from electric vehicles to renewables and data, as well as a comprehensive range of speakers in the three seminar streams.

“The UK is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 and the agricultural sector is uniquely placed to be part of the solution. Agrecalc will be there to explore the ways our clients and partners can measure, benchmark, and lower the carbon footprint on farms and land-based businesses, as well as throughout the entire food supply chain.”

The event is free to attend – users can register on the organisers’ registration page.

Bringing new and novel fertilisers into Calculators: A call for further collaboration

The harmonisation of carbon calculator methodologies has taken significant steps forward with two key developments: the establishment of an Industry Fertiliser Steering Group and the progress towards an interoperable data format. These initiatives aim to enhance the precision, usability, and impact of farm carbon calculators, benefitting farmers and the agrifood sector as a whole.
