Role overview

As it becomes more complex in terms of its offering, and moves from commercial validation to high growth stage, Agrecalc needs a Head of Technical & Delivery to implement the technical development of Agrecalc in line with the identified strategic plan and scientific advancements. The role will report to the CEO and contacts will be a variety of internal team members and external technical contractors. It is a position with breadth, with a technical skill set required at its core. 

The purpose of the role is to create and continuously update a product through software development and coding, driving to the ongoing growth and positioning of the Agrecalc platform into the market. This involves scoping, technical product development and developing solutions driven by challenges brought to Agrecalc by its customers and the evolving marketplace. Following the guidance provided by you, this role will handle integrating feedback and developing new modules for Agrecalc.

Duties

Product coordination and delivery

  • Identifying technical risks and forming contingency plans as soon as possible.
  • Analysing existing operations and scheduling training sessions and meetings to discuss improvements.
  • Building products from existing ideas and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and contact with customers and prospects.
  • Managing and facilitating solutions for emergent product issues during active development.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and developments.
  • Updating work schedules and performing troubleshooting and customer support as required.
  • Writing progress reports and delivering presentations to the relevant stakeholders

 

It is essential that you are a good communicator as there will be an expectation for you to build relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, from Scientists to Commercial parties.

Skills and experience

Key requirements

This role needs you to have an experienced software development background with skills in technical team management, scoping, customer liaison and project planning.

  • You will:

    • Have knowledge of cloud-based databases.
    • Be skilled in the use of Microsoft environments & coding language and wider software development.
    • Have experience scoping, planning and rolling out complex technical projects in a Azure environment, using environments such as SQL, .Net, C#, & React.
    • Proven experience in the mapping and implementing APIs.
    • Be adept at project management and be able to work to project timelines and to the various signposts along the software development roadmap; and,
    • Have hands on experience of unit, integration and end-to-end testing with troubleshooting abilities shown within a similar environment.

 

  • You will also have wider experience in:

    • Determining project requirements with the internal and external partners and develop work schedules for the development team.
    • Develop the infrastructure and the future product roadmap.
    • Design, implement, and administration of IT Systems focusing on Security, Networking and Storage solutions for the new cloud-based platform and data centre.
    • Develop Agrecalc as a software service product and to continue development as a consultancy tool.
    • Liaise with team members, management, and clients to ensure technical development projects are completed to standard.
    • Liaise with internal teams to help implement of IT security systems.
    • Liaise with external vendors to design of innovative security solutions using latest trends in Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning and Big Data technologies to build proactive and reactive software solutions making better use of automation, APIs, and Sensor technologies.
    • Running beta and early adopter programs with customers/development partners.

 

Education / Qualifications: 

Degree Level (or equivalent) in related subject (software development, coding or programme development) or equivalent experience.
